Grand Oil Party?
I am all for people's freedom of political views, but when someone feels the need to stick a sticker on Donimator's Hummer...be prepared to suffer the consequences...
So I ask...Are the oil companies profits too much? Here is a quote from a Business week article:
This is more an image thing than a substance thing," says one industry lobbyist. Indeed, an internal ExxonMobil document obtained by BusinessWeek argues that the company's profits are reasonable -- far more so than the financial industry; that prices are driven by supply and demand; and that Congress should "pause" before doing anything
dramatic.
You need to ask yourself...What truly is the root cause of the problem? It is way deeper than Elephants versus Donkeys...So should all bike shop owners, not try to make a bigger profit next year than they did this year? We live in a free country with freedom of speech and I searched the constitution up and down and sideways and didn't see anywhere that it said freedom to fuck with Donimator's Hummer.
Sorry Smithers...Had to go political today.

I don’t have a problem with oil and gas companies making a profit and I am certainly against the defacement of private property.
Think I ain’t?
I do have a problem with our economy being so tied to one resource that it forces our government to get into bed with dictators all over the world.
Donimator-
Sorry about the sticker on your car. It's hard to fathom why vandalism will encourage you to change your ways.
But the arguments for maintaining your oil consumption strike me as rationale for swimming upstream against an ever-increasing current.
However, as you point out, that's your right as an American consumer to do so.
But, it's also my right as an American citizen (like Little D) to point it out.
w.r.t the Bike Shop owner analogy, bikes aren't quite as "commodity" as gasoline is right now. I think the American public would benefit more from oil/gasoline industry regulation than they ever did from cable tv regulation...
and it happens, I know precisely what wholesalers charge for a basic innertube and $5 ain't it. I'm not quite as insensed about paying $5 for a tube in an emergency as I am about paying $3+ for a gallon of gas, though. An inner tube goes a lot further (usually).
I think you should keep it! It makes you look totally ironic.
A Hummer just makes you look like a sheep who thinks he can buy cool.
A Hummer with a No Blood for Oil sticker makes you look like you don't give a feck! But just to show that it's really your idea all along, you need to add another one, or maybe two. And add a real fur tire cover, too.
The other thing: Economists have a very simple way to measure whether profits are reasonable. Profits are supposed to be payments for taking the risk of investment. There is supposed to be a very simple relationship between risk and return, and if there are persistent returns in excess of what the rest of the market paying for a given level of risk, then that's the definition of "too much profit".
I trust market data, not internal Exxon memos. Besides, isn't the fact that Exxon itself is even wondering "gee, maybe we ARE making too much?" evidence that they are?
regulating oil will only lead to shortages, long lines, haven't you guys ever taken Econ 101?
And "Big Oil" is mostly state run
